The fees for a dog license are as follows:
- If spade or neutered, $10.
- If not spade or neutered, $30.
- If you are a Senior Citizen, $10.
Proof of rabies shot and driver's license or state ID is also required.
Birth records are only available to persons listed on the record, such as the parent or the person themselves. Photo ID must be shown, and a short form completed.
In general, exterior work, fence, siding, windows, roofing, and concrete require a permit. Any interior work that requires a structural change will require a permit. Interior cosmetic work does not require a permit (i.e. painting, replacing tile, carpeting).
A change in owners, tenants, or use in commercial buildings requires a new Certificate of Occupancy.
Certificates required. No building or structure, or part thereof, which is hereafter erected or altered, shall be occupied or used or the same caused to be done, unless and until a certificate of occupancy has been issued for such building or structure. Any change of ownership shall require a certificate of occupancy. [Zoning Ordinance, Sec 25.06]

Plans undergo review for approximately two weeks. The size and complexity of the project and completeness of the document submitted may alter this time frame. Plan reviews are done on a first in, first out basis.
City Form Center
A zoning review is performed to determine if the project you are proposing meets the requirements of the City of Taylor Zoning Ordinance. The fee is collected at the time the permit is dropped off at the Building Department. Zoning review fees are non-refundable.
The ZRF does not include plan review fees and/or permit fees. Applications submitted to the Building Department that are subject to a zoning review will not be reviewed until the ZRF has been paid.
Permits exempt from a Zoning Review: removal and replacement of existing roofing, siding, windows or concrete.

The library closes for several holidays, including the Taylor Summer Festival weekend in June, when the library is inaccessible. Don't worry, you won't get fines for days we're closed.
Located outside the south entrance of the library stands a silver book drop. Please place library materials in this container when the library is closed. Upon the library's opening the materials will be checked in.

People with qualifying disabilities may also borrow special format Talking Books and Braille items, as part of the National Library Service for the Blind and Physically Handicapped.
Library materials can also be dropped off at any one of the The Library Network (TLN) member libraries.
Note: A Numeric Pin is Required. Materials that have holds will not be able to be renewed and should be returned to the library on the scheduled due date otherwise fines will be charged for the overdue item(s).
Materials not returned are not available for others to use or borrow. Also, if materials are not returned, in most cases, money from the library budget is used to replace them.
There is no charge to check out DVDs. DVDs kept beyond the due date will accrue late fees. For more information, view the fee schedule.
The Taylor Community Library provides wireless internet (Wi-Fi) accessible from personal laptops or other wireless devices. No log-in is required.
It is possible to send faxes at the Library. Faxes are sent by a staff member at the checkout counter for $1.00 per page.

Yes, the library has a black and white/color copy machine. Copies are $0.10 a page and $0.50 for color copies.

Taylor Community Library does have a subscription to Ancestry Library Edition, which is only available online.
As always you can come in to the Taylor Community Library and find FREE tax forms to take home. Forms are sent to us by U.S. government and the library typically receives them in late February. However, the electronic version of the forms are always available online.
Staff can print forms out for you at any time using our current printing prices. You may also use the following links to download and print yourself: IRS Tax Forms, Michigan Tax Forms, City of Detroit Tax Forms.
Please remember that our staff may be helpful and outstanding, but they are not professional tax preparers, and cannot give you any advice on what to fill out or what form you need. If you are looking for help with your taxes, the library typically offers a Free Tax Preparation help day for people making less than $50,000 in February or March. The 2019 Summer Homestead millage rate is 43.6318 mills. The Summer Non-Homestead millage rate is 61.6318 mills. The difference is the 18 mills levied on Summer Non-Homestead properties by the Taylor School District. The Winter Homestead millage rate is 8.4653. The Winter Non-Homestead millage rate is 8.4653.
The Summer tax bill is sent out July 1 and is due September 30 without additional penalty or interest. Certain eligible seniors may qualify for a deferral of the due date to February 15. They may file an Application for Deferment of Summer Taxes, available from the Michigan Department of Treasury or the City Treasurer. The Treasurer’s office accepts payments 9 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday except holidays. There is also a 24-hour secure drop box outside the Pine Street entrance to City Hall in which payments may be made.
